Who needs potentially invasive
exotic plants when we have environmentally safe native
plants like these!
If you are using Microsoft Internet
Explorer then at present the pages re-load, when you
hit either the "Add" or "Subtract"
buttons, and you then have to scroll back down to the item you
just added to your shopping cart.
This is due a short coming of
Microsoft Internet Explorer that cannot see 'book marks' if
they are embedded inside a table. It may have been fixed in
version 7.0 of Internet Explorer but I do not know for sure.
I do know that this is not a problem
in many other web browsers.

Placing an order via this online
nursery is 100% safe, as far as credit card numbers and bank
account numbers go, because all you will be doing is sending
me an email with the plants you wish to purchase.
I do not process the payments directly
myself. Payment takes place
external to this website and, if you choose to make an
online payment, then the security of this is subject to the
web security arrangements of your bank, Paypal or Paymate.
Given that millions of online
transactions take place via the web sites of these
institutions they are pretty safe. But if you choose not to
trust them then you can always mail me a cheque or money
order.

The JavaScript programming behind my
online nursery can easily be adapted to sell any product at
fraction of the cost and effort of larger more complicated
systems.
System Features & Usage
- It is a simple and inexpensive online order
receiving system ideal for small businesses taking their first
step into online selling.
- Upon receiving an order from a client you
then email them invoice for payment. This invoice can be created
with what ever software you prefer to use and saved on your hard
disk where ever you choose to do so.
- There are major security issues with handling credit
card and bank account numbers etc that I was not prepared to deal in setting up
my online nursery. So I left out the internal payment system
along with the complicated and expensive web security features
that are required. Goods purchased from my website can still
easily be paid for online but my customers do so via the website
of their bank, of Paypal or Paymate rather than via my website.
The most common method of payment for plants ordered from my
online nursery is direct bank deposit.
- There are no tracking or accounting
systems with my system as these sorts of features add to the complication and expense in setting up and
maintaining the website. All my accounting and order tracking
take place via the business systems I had setup prior to
creating my online nursery.
- It requires that your web hosting service
has Microsoft FrontPage extensions, PHP support and Microsoft
Active Server Pages (ASP) installed.
My website and online nursery
consistently appear on the first page of results in Google
for a number of different search words and phrases. So I can
provide you with advice on how you can achieve similar
results in a reasonably short period of time.
Email
me if you would like to try my system for your online sales.

If you are going to purchase some of
my plants then please consider carefully how you dispose of
the empty pots. Please don't just drop them in the bin and
send them to land fill.
Here are your options with respect
to the empty tubes:
- If you know of any other indigenous
nurseries nearby then please return the empty tubes to
those establishments. They, and myself, will re-use the
tubes over and over for as long as they remain intact.
- See if your local council depot
will take your empty tubes. They often have stock piles
of them left over from their revegetation projects. They
periodically return the empty tubes to the indigenous
nurseries from whom they obtain their plants.
- Some retail nurseries have bins
where you can deposit your empty pots. They are recycled
one way or another.
- At the very least drop them in your
council recycle bin.

Postage is calculated on box volume
rather than absolute weight and the cost increases in fairly
large jumps of box volume rather than smoothly.
Within metropolitan Melbourne postage
will around $10 for any where between 1 and 50 tubes while
for rural Victoria it will be around $15.
For other states, where air freight is
involved, postage cost will be the same for 1 to about 12
tubes.
I use pre-loved boxes from the local
hardware store and there are limits to what box sizes are
available regularly. Boxes that formerly contained Liquid
Nails, in which I can fit 12 tubes, or metho and turpentine,
into which I can fit 24 tubes or 4 x 14cm pots plus 6 tubes,
are most often available.
So in all cases it does not make sense
for you to order 1 or 2 plants when you will be paying the
same postage as you would for 12 plants or more. It is not
particularly wise to have me post you a half empty box.

If you are wishing to purchase my
plants for an overseas destination then I am afraid I cannot
help you for the following reasons:
- There are biosecurity and
quarantine issues in exporting living biological
materials from Australia and I am not equipped or
prepared to deal with the complicated and time consuming
process of obtaining an Australian export permit and
foreign import permit. Nor am I prepared to circumvent
biosecurity and quarantine laws of Australia or other
countries.
- Plants are dispatched by regular
Australian post and this works perfectly well for
destinations within Australia. However plants are very
unlikely to arrive in an acceptable condition at
destinations in other countries after a protracted
journey overseas and through the destination country.
- There is also a real risk of some
Australian native plants becoming environmental weeds in
other countries, and I am not prepared to hypocritically
fight against exotic environmental weeds in Australia
while contributing to distributing Australian
environmental weeds overseas.
