Greg's Indigenous Plants & Landscapes

Environmentally friendly landscapes.

"The exotic vegetation that replaces indigenous plant communities in urbanising regions, disassociates us from the rhythms and diversity of the native landscape and a sense of the place; and we are the poorer because of it."

Michael Hough, Professor of Landscape Architecture, York University, Canada

Why the career shift?

Although I have always had an interest in the environment and conservation, I followed the usual path of having a mainstream career and reserving that interest for my leisure activities.

After spending 5 years in the corporate world as a computer programmer, contributing to such things as wagering, I came to realize that I would never feel fulfilled on this career path nor with the associated lifestyle, and I would have to compromise my principals and 'toe the line'.

Hence I made the leap from the IT sector to the conservation sector despite the large reduction in wage. I quickly realized that there was a rift between flora conservation & revegetation movement and garden and landscape sector that I could contribute to bridging.

I resolved to try and make indigenous plants more accessible and relevant to the average gardener in the Epping region. Hence Greg's Indigenous Plants & Landscapes was born.
